February 2017 Challenge - S.F.B.MFebruary 2017 Challenge - S.F.B.M
Hello all. Here is February's challenge for you. I was all set to do something else when I discovered the formula in question wasn't working any more. A formula update last year seems to have "broken" it. I've notified the author so maybe I can introduce you to it another time. :)
So this month's challenge is a bit of a rush job. A couple of people have requested something along these lines, using S.F.B.M colouring, so it seemed like a good one to be getting on with. I know it's been done before as a challenge elsewhere but it's not one I've tried myself and I hope it will be new to a few of you too. S.F.B.M  is such an important colouring that many of us use every day but I think we could all learn a lot more about it through a challenge like this. Yes?
So... what do you need to do? The idea of this challenge is to focus on the combination of a Pixel formula with one of the S.F.B.M. colourings. Most of your layers shou

Alright, so i'm going to start off with my overall opinion of this piece, I think it looks wonderful! The colours harmonsize very well and it reminds me a lot like snowflakes and ice. Which sorta can be fractals! I haven't seen any piece of work like this before, and so it comes across as really unique to me. I can't really think of any other artist that has a similar style to this, so to me this is pretty original!

My first impressions when seeing this piece was first "wow", second "beautiful."
I've always had a keen eye for pieces that show fine detail in each and every bit of space, while on the topic of spacing though, I appreciate that some fractals are larger and stretched out more then others. This gives your piece an overall balance and somewhat randomness in the placement.

What really interests me is the viewpoint. I feel like as if i'm looking down at an icy path. As if i'm stood over a lake and being able to look down and see each little formation that has been made, but the water hasn't completely froze through, because you can see a sort of liquid effect taking place almost beneath that top layer. Furthermore, the darker patches create some depth and make it seem that if you was to fall through you'd just plummet on and on reaching freezing depths that just seem unimaginable to sink to.
The mood I gain from this piece is a sense of calm, and coldness. If I was to touch it i'd probably feel a freezing sting, but from a glance it's rather calming and soothing. Also mystical, ice-like patterns and formations tend to have a mystic, spiritual feel to them.

Now, usually i'd give a few tips on how to improve, but honestly i'm not an expert in this style of work. I think your colour combination and placement has been very well thought through in this piece and don't have any points to critisize. Just... awesome work~! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b…" width="15" height="15" alt=":D" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=":D (Big Grin)"/>
